TMS Tularosa Middle School Exterior Realistic View 1

The long-awaited new Tularosa Middle School brings school campuses together to create a true community for students, staff, and parents. The combined school model, in which students of a wide variety of ages learn on the same campus, helps students develop socially, academically, and provides a more inclusive learning environment. The goal of the design for Tularosa Middle School is to create a safe, functional, sustainable, and flexible environment for Tularosa.

The new Middle School will function as both a place of community and educational learning. Specialized learning spaces will include a new Career Technical Education building to prepare students for fulfilling careers, and a shared Native American Culture and Language Classroom for middle and high school students.

The new middle school will be built right next to the existing high school campus. The current high school will remain in operation during construction by relocating staff and students to the existing middle school building. Special care will be taken to plan for deliveries, logistics, staging areas, and on-site parking during construction. Critical outdoor spaces will be preserved during construction, including the bus lane, parent drop-off, staff/visitor parking, play areas and fields, basketball courts, district food delivery area, and site fencing.

"This state-of-the-art facility is exactly what our community needs, featuring a modern gym, a new practice field, and the latest in classroom technology. Its location next to the high school is a game-changer, allowing us to strengthen and expand our Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, ensuring our students are better prepared for the future. This is a huge step forward for Tularosa! GO WILDCATS" — Superintendant Todd Lindsay

Where we are now: Starting to build from the ground up

Our design team has been hard at work to ensure the best possible learning environment for Tularosa Middle School. From careful design of each unique learning space to considering how construction will impact both the middle school and high school students and staff, our team have taken into account your thoughts and concerns in our design.

Now that the design process is finished, construction can start as early as Fall 2025! At Dekker, our work isn't finished — we will remain in close communication with the contractors and the Tularosa design committee to make sure things go as smoothly as possible.

We would not be where we are today without the help from the Tularosa staff design committee, PSFA and NorthStar NM. Your tireless work on this project and valuable input has helped shape this project into a school that will best serve your students and staff. THANK YOU for all of your work and collaboration!
