Our mission is to create an environment where lifelong learning is valued, excellence is expected, and improvement is continuous.

The design goals reflect this mission by providing a school that is:

  • Safe, functional, sustainable, and flexible
  • Supportive of continuously evolving learning and student development
  • Adaptable, agile, and future-ready
  • Rooted in a sense of place, safety, and security
  • Integrated with Mescalero Apache culture and heritage

Together, these goals form the foundation for a learning environment that inspires growth, connection, and excellence.

Outside Rendering

Located on the existing occupied high school campus, the project includes:

  • A new middle school building to replace the current facility
  • A new Career Technical Education (CTE) building to prepare students for meaningful careers
  • A shared Native American Culture and Language Classroom, serving both middle and high school student

Together, these spaces will create a dynamic educational hub—a place where learning and community come together.

Carefully coordinated construction for continuous learning

To maintain a smooth transition, the high school will continue operating throughout construction, with staff and students temporarily relocated to the existing middle school. The project team is carefully coordinating deliveries, logistics, staging areas, and on-site parking to minimize disruption. Key outdoor spaces—such as the bus lane, parent drop-off zone, parking areas, playfields, and basketball courts—will be preserved and remain functional.

Our design team has worked closely with the Tularosa community to ensure the new school reflects shared goals and values. Every decision—from classroom layouts to construction sequencing—has been made with both student experience and community impact in mind.

Construction of the new Tularosa Middle School is scheduled to begin in Fall 2025.
